As a former classroom teacher at schools such as Crescent and Moncrest, I had nine years’ teaching experience in some of Toronto’s most prestigious schools before founding Summerhill Tutorials in 1997. I bring a wealth of teaching experience to my role, including a Master’s Degree in Education with focuses in Special Education and Guidance. I understand that every child has their own learning style, challenges, and academic goals. With customized private tutoring, I strive to make learning accessible and attainable for each with whom we work.
As an educator, it is my philosophy that the role of a tutor is to assist students to become independent learners who possess a sound skill base and understand the application of concepts. In addition, at Summerhill we strive to build confidence, giving each student the ability to apply what has been learned to the creative process and their individual thoughtful analysis.
We believe a student’s academic goals are best achieved by consistent weekly or bi-weekly sessions. During our sessions, our hope is that skills and concepts not fully understood at school will be clarified. This allows future school assignments to be completed with greater ease and self-confidence.
Together, we will determine your child’s needs right from the very beginning and find a path specific to them and their learning needs. We strive for frequent communication between tutor and parent in order to determine academic strengths and to quickly recognize and address challenges. We aim to take the stress out of the school year for both you and your child and set them on a positive path for academic success and achievement.
